What is CMS?
CMS is an abbreviation for Content Management System. Sometimes CMS is named “site engine”.
The main CMS function is an automation of site modernization process, content management, web pages and its content addition, removal and editing. Besides some CMS can simplify a process of site development, allow to extend its functionality easily, change a design, add new interactive modules (news lines, guest books and so on).
CMS necessity.
Website is the most effective and convenient way to inform a client about your company, its activity, services and goods. If a site is used for this purpose the information on it must be full, presented conveniently and above all latest.
It is natural for a potential client who visits a site with apparently irrelevant information not to deal with this company. That is why if you want high efficiency from your site, content management system is just necessary.
Some companies recruit freelancers or make regular payments to web studios for site updating. Except that you have to pay to a non-affiliated company your site will be managed by a person who is hardly acquainted with your company operation. Web representation must be managed by a corporate employee familiar with your company activity and marketing policy.
How often is CMS used?
Practically all eastern companies use CMS to manage their web resources. In Ukraine the situation is a little bit different. There are some main reasons:
- Firstly, up to now web site hasn’t been supposed to be a meaningful part of business in a lot of companies. Website support and development have been financed on leftovers; it has been hardly renovated and improved.
- Secondly, lack of business propositions at the native CMS market. The main part of systems is know-how of web studios and requires qualified technical personal to support it. So, web studios tie clients to them forever. The other CMS either are not products at all or cost thousands and even dozens of thousands dollars that is why their usage doesn’t make economic sense for a lot of companies.
- Thirdly, impossibility of eastern CMS usage because of Russian documentation and support absence and also high cost.
